Virginity Fraud

Virginity, it's something that we people feel very embarrassed to talk about in public but when we are alone we find it the most important topic to think upon. It's one of the most buzzing words today, everyone has got something to do with this word.Women are still mistrusted, shamed, harmed and even subjected to honor killings if they do not bleed in their first night. Girls are always told that they cannot keep secrets, their body will reveal them no matter what. Through this we have indulged fear in them, girls are afraid of ruining themselves either through sports, play or any sexual activity. We have curtailed their opportunities and freedom. However the truth about virginity has been known in the medical science but it still continues making the life of women difficult. So let's discuss about virginity and know some of the facts that are really important for everyone which may give a more respectful position to women.

When it comes to virginity we have been believing on two anatomical myths :

1. Virgins Bleed

 The first myth is that the Hymen breaks and bleeds. It has been believed since years that when a women has vaginal sex for the first time the Hymen breaks and bleeds. In other words if there is no blood on the bed sheets then the women is not believed to be a virgin.So this is the time we should know about the facts of virginity, we should break the myths about hymen once and for all. People seem to believe that the hymen is something that is covering the vaginal opening, it is also said to be the vaginal membrane, and due to this we figure it as something very fragile something that is easily destructible.

Shattering The Myth

In fact hymen is nothing like a piece of plastic that can be ripped through but it is more like a rubber band. The hymen is a rim of tissues at the outer opening of the vagina and usually it has a doughnut
or a half moon shape with a large central hole. But this varies a lot, sometimes hymen can have fringes, several holes or it can consist of several loops, in other words hymen naturally varies a lot in looks and that is what makes it so hard to do a virginity check. A hymen is very elastic and stretchable by nature, and for a lot of women the hymen will be elastic enough to have a vaginal intercourse without sustaining any damage. For other women the hymen may tear a bit to make room during the intercourse but that wont make it disappear it may look different than before. 

       It simply means that if you have an elastic hymen then you would never bleed from sex it does not matter you are a virgin or not. In other words only some virgin bleeds and the others not. And this was noted over 100 years ago in 1906 by a doctor, she examined a middle aged sex-worker and found that her hymen was similar to a teenage's hymen, it means her hymen was never damaged. This shatters our myth of virgin bleeding.

2. The Hymen Disappears Forever

The second myth is actually a consequence of the first myth that says once the Hymen breaks and bleed it is believed to disappear forever.

Shattering The Myth

As hymen come in different shapes and sizes it is difficult to know if a particular hymen has undergone penetration or not. A study was done on 36 pregnant teenagers, when doctors examined  their hymens they could only find clear signs of penetration in 2 out of the 36 girls. That is a clear indication that we cannot judge the purity of a women by having their hymen tests for virginity done. 

Conclusion:

So it is very clear from the above discussion that more than half of the women do not bleed during a vaginal intercourse, and the hymens are never lost. Through the above discussion we have shattered the myths of women virginity but the mentality of the society is still harder to change, but we must try.  It is very important for every girl, parent or husband to know what the hymen is and how it works they must know that the hymen cannot be used for virginity checks and through this we can remove one of the most powerful tools used to control  young women today.

 Now most of us might be wondering that what the alternative to this is if we cannot use hymen as a parameter. The answer to this is NOTHING, we cannot use anything to determine if a girl is virgin or not. If you really want to know if she is virgin or not ASK HER.
